About
Professor Lisa Gibbs is Director of the Disaster, Climate and Adversity Unit within Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne. She is an international leader in disaster recovery and resilience research, influencing scholarly thinking, government policy and service delivery for the past 15 years. She leads an extensive applied research program investigating the health and wellbeing impacts of disasters and the complex social influences on outcomes. Professor Gibbs is committed to engaging with those whose work and lives are affected by the topic of research as partners in research. She works closely with leading agencies in the field including the World Health Organisation (WHO), Australian Red Cross, Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR), 54 Reasons (formerly Save the Children Australia), and government emergency, education and health departments.
