Dr Tyler Riordan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in The University of Queensland’s Business School. He is an expert in qualitative methods with extensive experience in ethnographic research (including interviewing and shadowing). In his previous postdoctoral position, he co-authored the Queensland Tourism Workforce Crisis Resilience and Recovery Strategy. He holds a PhD in Hospitality and Anthropology, and his doctoral thesis investigated the experiences of migrants in the platform-based food-delivery sector.

Tyler’s broader research examines labour and workforces, focusing on how disadvantaged communities navigate employment, training, and the ‘gig’ economy. Tyler has eight years’ experience in the hospitality industry and a professional background working on education and community development programs in Australia and Latin America.
