About

Dr Hayley Henderson is a Senior Lecturer in urban policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy. Based at the ANU Institute for Infrastructure in Society, her research examines the social benefits and risks of urban policies and projects, with a focus on collaborative governance. Hayley’s research includes a focus on sustainable catchment management, including how stakeholders might work together to deliver nature-based solutions with broad societal benefits. She contributed to the EU Horizon 2020 CONEXUS project (2020–2024), studying and co-producing nature-based solutions pilot projects with local partners in seven cities in Europe and Latin America.

She has led institutional analyses for feasibility and evaluation studies on scaling nature-based solutions, including the potential of land-based financing instruments for these solutions. In partnership with public and multilateral agencies (e.g. UNEP, World Bank), she conducts research that can support policy reform and project designs to tackle urban challenges with nature-based solutions, such as flooding, wetland management, social housing improvements, and urban parklands design.
