Brett Michie

About

With over three decades of experience in education, emergency services and strategic leadership, Brett brings a deep commitment to operational safety, procurement, and training. He's worked extensively as a teacher and facilitator of experiential, residential, and leadership education, empowering individuals, and groups through immersive, values-based learning experiences. Alongside this, Brett has served for more than 21 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Country Fire Authority in Victoria. He previously held various operational leadership roles and currently serve as Group Officer for the Ovens Valley Group.

Brett is currently employed as the Manager for Standards and Strategic Procurement with the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC). His role through the Collaborative Procurement Strategy Group, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Fleet and Operational Equipment Technical Groups, is to ensure the safety of over 288,000 emergency service personnel across Australia and New Zealand. Brett is also a participating member of the SF-049 & SF- 053 PPE Technical Committees at Standards Australia and maintain an important and vital link between the AFAC membership and national and international standards.
