Expressions of Interest for a project improving and developing evacuation modelling and support tools for emergency managers and decision makers is now open.
Evacuation modelling is an important tool for emergency managers to understand planning challenges and make strategic decisions for effect risk mitigation and preserving life. This collaborative project will map out the needs for the next generation of evacuation modelling tools for Australia.
The Hazard workshops for evacuation modelling project will use workshops with emergency personnel, land-use and transport planners, researchers and software developers to:
-
identify user needs and research gaps for improving evacuation decision support tools
-
develop a nationally agreed and prioritised roadmap for developing Evacuation Simulation Decision Support Tool/s
-
provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential use of evacuation modelling across different contexts while developing stronger partnerships and collaborations.
EOI submissions are due by 5pm AEST 10 July 2024 to research@naturalhazards.com.au.
A project briefing video has been recorded in advance to provide further information. You can watch the recording below.
