This project aims to understand the extent of active natural hazards and disaster risk reduction research investments in Australia.

Project details

There is a need to understand the current extent of natural hazards and disaster risk
reduction research across Australia via a comprehensive analysis of the extent of current
research investment and to identify primary themes of the investment. This will:

  • Improve knowledge of the breadth and depth of natural hazards and disaster risk reduction research across Australia
  • Aid to avoid duplication, understand gaps and accelerate utilisation
  • Improve understanding of the extent to which research is end-user driven

The objectives of the project are to:

  • understand the extent of active natural hazards and disaster risk reduction research investment in Australia across funding sources
  • understand the broad objectives of different research funding sources
  • understand the themes of investment as they relate to the key focus and capability areas listed in the Centre’s Biennial Research Plan 2024-26.
  • understand capabilities of different research institutions
  • develop a list of active natural hazards and disaster risk reduction research projects nationally.
