Release date

28 September 2022

Annual Report 2021–22 is now available online, highlighting Natural Hazards Research Australia's key achievements throughout its establishment year.

The 2021-22 financial year was a busy year at the Centre, with many key areas focused on the set up of the Centre and the research program:

  • ensuring that partner-driven research is up and running, through programs and projects
  • establishing a network of partners across all states and territories
  • setting up node offices across the country, along with new staff and Board members
  • designing and rolling out a brand identity, website and social media presence
  • participating in several industry events and collaborations

The Centre’s Chair, Dr Katherine Woodthorpe AO, introduces the report with a reminder of the importance of a national natural hazard research capability.

“Our strategy is based on utilisation and engagement on a national scale,” she says in the report.

“Everything we do is driven by our partners and the communities they represent. As the world changes, so can we.”

The Centre’s collaborative partner-driven research is the central focus of the report, which also highlights new research programs, awards, research milestones, corporate structure, staff, key challenges, branding and publications. Key highlights of the year include 31 partners from around the country investing in a national research capability, along with 27 research projects beginning.

The Annual Report 2021–22 and all other corporate documents are available at naturalhazards.com.au/corporate-documents. This is a public version of the report supplied to the Australian Government in July 2022.
