An outstanding career and contributions to innovation and research by Dr Katherine Woodthorpe AO have been acknowledged by Cooperative Research Australia.

Dr Woodthorpe received an Honorary Lifetime Alumni membership of Cooperative Research Australia at the Collaborate Innovate Gala Dinner in Canberra on 31 March. The alumni membership recognises Dr Woodthorpe’s immense contributions to the cooperative research community through her involvement in 14 cooperative research centres (CRCs).

Natural Hazards Research Australia Chair, Dr Woodthorpe, was also Chair of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC. She is also currently the Chair of the HEARing CRC, was Chair of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC and CRC Smartprint, and served on the Board of Deep Exploration Technologies CRC, Cancer Therapeutics CRC and Capital Markets CRC.

The Gala Dinner also featured addresses from the Minister for Science and Technology, the Hon Melissa Price, and prominent businessman David Thodey. Both Minister Price and Mr Thodey reflected on the success of the CRC program over the last 30 years and recognised the research of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC as key parts of program.

A key aspect of the conference was the CRC 30th Anniversary Innovation Showcase at Parliament House. The Showcase featured a booth to promote the activities of the Centre as the research program is developed.
