The deadline to submit an Expression of Interest has been extended to 20 November 2024.
An excellent opportunity is now open for universities to collaborate with the Centre to support a First Nations Research Scholarship Program.
The scholarship program, which is now open for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from universities, will support at least one First Nations Research Scholar over the duration of their pathway to higher degree research completion through financial and industry support.
The Centre recognises the accumulated knowledges, relationships, obligations and knowledge systems that Fire Nations Peoples have with Country. The Centre also recognises that First Nations people face some of the most significant barriers to participation in and leadership of natural hazards research.
As part of its Biennial Research Plan 2024-26, the Centre committed to delivering a research scholarship to support First Nations Research Scholars through applying a decolonised First Nations lens (Costello & Neale, 2023).
The successful university or universities in this EOI will be responsible for the recruitment, selection and management of the Research Scholars.
Selection and approval of the host university or universities will be a two-stage process. The first stage is the evaluation of the EOIs received with the assessment and selection of the preferred host/s. The second stage is the development of a Research Scholar call for applicants to be widely advertised and promoted through First Nations networks.
The First Nations Research Scholarship Program will provide successful candidates with a stipend and research support administered by the host university, as well as community engagement support, industry placement and Early Career Researcher Development Fellowships administered by the Centre.
Expressions of Interest close 5:00pm AEDT, 20 November 2024.
