Natural Hazards Research Australia (the Centre) hosts a comprehensive body of evidence relevant to tropical cyclones and floods. This evidence covers the physical impacts of cyclones, analysis of fatalities after natural hazards, how people are affected by extreme disasters and the benefits of mitigation.

The Centre also engages with end-users through its responsive disaster research capability and is currently identifying essential research needed in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

While investigations are underway, research on previous disasters caused by natural hazards is listed below, highlighting lessons learned and crucial insights that have helped strengthen Australia's disaster risk reduction and resilience.
