Following a series of devastating floods in New South Wales and Queensland during January–July 2022, Natural Hazards Research Australia funded the Community experiences of the 2022 Australia floods project, led by A/Prof Mel Taylor at Macquarie University.

The purpose of this project was to hear directly and learn from the personal stories of people who were affected by flooding with a large, trauma-informed study.

Hazard Note 2: Learning from residents' experiences of the January-July 2022 floods in New South Wales and Queensland summarises select high-level results.

This evidence can be used by government departments, emergency service and management agencies and other groups to support future improvements in community safety in floods and other disasters.
