A/Prof Susanna Jenkins is Principal Investigator at the Earth Observatory of Singapore and Associate Professor of Hazard and Risk at Nanyang Technological University. Susanna’s background is in geology and geophysical hazards, and her research aims to quantify the impact that natural hazards have on people and the assets upon which they depend.

Susanna’s research has focussed mostly on volcanoes, which are inherently multi-hazard and require assessment of the risk from hazards such as earthquakes, fires, flooding, and windstorm. In many cases, her research is informed directly by stakeholders beyond the academic community, who are working to reduce natural hazard risk. She follows open data practices and policies to ensure that the data and tools produced from her research can be freely used.
