About

Kylie Jacky is a proud Nyangbul woman from the Bundjalung nation. She is the Lead, Aboriginal Initiatives of NSW Environment Protection Authority and current chairperson of Jali Local Aboriginal Land Council. She has been in senior executive roles across NSW Government leading major strategies, projects and reforms for improved outcomes for Aboriginal peoples. Kylie is committed to the rights and interests of her community and is currently working with local leaders and the Nyangbul community to return long term displaced families to Cabbage Tree Island which was impacted by an unprecedented flood in 2022. After three years of many challenges, with inclusive local engagement and tenacious advocacy, Cabbage Tree Island homes will be rebuilt to be flood resilient housing. The Jali Local Aboriginal Land Council acknowledges the expertise and cultural knowledge already held in our community. Kylie holds a keen willingness to learn new ways to adapt and strengthen the community’s resilience in living with floods and other climatic events.
